The practice are looking for someone to provide for the veterinary needs of all companion animals by carrying out and overseeing preventative, diagnostic and therapeutic care in conjunction with colleagues and clients. As well as having an active interest in medical cases and patients.

The Successful Candidate will;

  • Assess all cases, formulating and implementing preventative, diagnostic and treatment plans as appropriate
  • Ensure all treatment is carried out in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case progress, ensuring clients are advised of case costs and informed consent is given for procedures and colleagues as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and complete clinical records, including correct charging out of goods and services.
  • Assess in-patients, formulate treatment plans, setting or arranging tasks as appropriate liaising with the client and colleagues, including carrying out surgical procedures, operating anaesthetic machines, ultrasound equipment and X-ray equipment as required.
  • Liaise with staff at the Dogs Trust centre regarding providing veterinary care for their animals.
  • Undertake and co-ordinate pro bono care of wildlife cases
  • Prescribe veterinary medicines as appropriate, ensuring compliance with legislation covering dispensing, handling, recording, controlling and storage of drugs, medicines and other substances.
  • Liaise with clients and referral veterinarian in cases referred for specialist opinions outside the practice.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of current best practice and ensure own development via CPD.
  • Work alongside and delegate tasks as required with the nursing staff.
  • Under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, whilst at work, you must take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of any other person who may be affected by your acts or omissions.
